Environmental Impact Assessment

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is the assessment of the environmental consequences  of a plan or project prior to the decision to move forward with the proposed action.

The purpose of EIA is to ensure that decision makers consider the environmental impacts when deciding or not to proceed with a project.

Depending on the size of the project, the competent authorities will choose to conduct an Initial EIA (2 to 4 months) or a Full EIA (5 to 6 months).

Those assessments generally cover a large scope of work including sound, vibration, air, water, soil and socio-economic analysis. For more complex projects, other areas would be covered in accordance with the Ministry of Environment (MoE).
